The formation held in Lusaka at CIAM level was transmitted to the sisters of South Sudan by the Vicar of the pre-province, Sr. Juliet Henry Kon along with Sr. Rosaria Lee, Sr. Betty Amos, and Sr Paola Labella.
On the first day, the session was on “
For a Generative Animation” by Sr. Juliet, who helped us to reflect on Art. 52 of our constitution, she focused a lot on the personal encounter with the animator, at the end of her session she posed three questions to reflect upon personally and then in our small groups. We then took a break for lunch and soon around 2.30 got back to share what we had discussed in our smaller groups.
On the following day we had the Lectio Divina on the passage taken from Acts 6:1-6A guided by Sr. Rosaria Lee, after this within a 10-minute break she began her session on
“Synodality”. In this session, she quoted Pope Francis who said “It is precisely this path of synodality which God expects of the church of the 3
rd millennium” he further went on “Synodality is an essential dimension of the Church”. Sr. Rosaria Lee spoke about the Synodal church: Communion, Participation, and Mission and listed the elements of Synodal Spirituality. In the end, we had time for personal reflection and sharing. It’s worth mentioning one of the questions “What do we need to change to truly live the synodality at the community and pre-province level?”
In the afternoon session, Sr. Paola Labella spoke on
“Generativity-Taking Care”. During this session, we had an exercise to do. We were divided again in much smaller groups of three and we had to answer three questions on three different colored papers. On the green we needed to write what we need to
unlearn, on the red, what we need to
learn, and on the yellow what we need to
maintain what we have already. After supper, we facilitated Sr. Juliet Henry as it was her birthday. The community with the Come and See girls and the volunteers too joined in the celebration.
On the last day, we came together as a whole group and put together some concrete proposals and actions to be taken to the provincial as she was not present for this transmission. Thanking the Lord, we parted ways as some were traveling back to their communities.
