Twenty-six students have finished the Sewing Short Course after six months, which started on the 17th
of December 2020. For six months they learned Sewing skills, patterns, hand stitching, cutting simple fabrics, hand embroidery, and taking body measurements. This short course is one of the activities of Women Promotion in Gubrie. Through this course, the students have gained the skills to start working and support their lives. Especially this course was sponsored by Mrs.Laura who is an Italian benefactor. She has saved her money to donate sewing machines to all the participants for their future. So, the students who completed this course received the sewing machine with a grateful heart.
Sr. Antonietta Scomparini congratulated their successful achievement and their efforts. She blessed them and encouraged them to carry on their passion and efforts for their future. The students prepared a traditional thanksgiving moment for the sisters and teachers, Wasihun Fetene and Samuel Kebede, who have supported them in various ways. The thanksgiving moment was started with a blessing and a prayer by an orthodox priest who was one of the students, which was followed by a thanksgiving letter and some speeches. Also, they prepared gifts for the community and for the teachers. The teachers assured them that they would help them whenever they might face difficulties in operating the sewing machine.
All the students were moved by this providence of the sewing machine. As they received it, they carried it very carefully and came to Sr. Rosaria to express their gratitude ceaselessly. One of them said that they were grateful because they could start work and practice what they have learned through this course. All of us were moved and gave thanks to God who provides always for the poor people.
