Each young person who comes to us is a call from God for us. We, as Salesian Sisters, walk with the young and strive to discern God’s will in each young person we meet in our reality. With the Salesian accompaniment, we help the young to be honest citizens and good Christians. Our final goal of the accompaniment is Holiness. We walk with them on the path to Holiness.

We give thanks to God who stirs young people’s hearts and gives them the courage to follow Jesus Christ for the salvation of the young. We have been praying and looking for young people, especially the young girls who want to follow Jesus in the religious life.

On the 4^th -9^th of September there was a vocational camp in Zway. 18 girls from different parts of southern Ethiopia were gathered to experience the religious life by living together for five days. Six of them were newcomers and 12 of them were students who have been staying in Zway. This program was prepared by Sr. Filseta and Sr. Scolastica with the Zway community. Every day they had sections about Christian value, St. Don Bosco, St. Mary Mazzarello, Vocation, Holiness, and Confession.

Our sisters prepared various sections and Sr. Anita gave a goodnight about our Blessed Mother. This vocational camp was done in a great collaboration. Fr. Dino gave a section about St. Don Bosco with great enthusiasm and two Salesian priests offered the opportunity for the Sacrament of reconciliation and adoration.

All the participants were very much involved and gave their full attention in each section. They also visited our schools and our pastoral activities in Zway. Most of them expressed their interest in religious vocations and through individual meetings with the sisters they shared their desire and a plan. Three of them, who are going to finish grade 12, would like to start formation in our congregation. The rest of them are still students in secondary school.

On the last day of the camp, we celebrated the Salesian thanksgiving recreation. They prepared a program of thanksgiving including poems about Mary Mazzarello, games, dances, and thanksgiving speeches. The thanksgiving moment was filled with joy and gratitude from them. We could see the Salesian seed in them.

Through evaluation, they expressed their satisfaction and gratitude. They appreciated learning about our saints and discovered the holiness in young people in the Church. They were happily staying together, working duties, and praying together. They valued this experience in a very positive way. And they wished to have more time.

We also have experienced their desire for God, the desire for holiness, and the desire of being a good Christian. We constantly give thanks to God for showing us his children and for entrusting them to us. We are invited to walk with them.
