2. About the EASY WE Project
The initiative “EASY WE: Empowerment And Skills for Youth Employment
and Women’s Empowerment in Ethiopia” (AID 013244/11/9), co-financed by
Cooperazione Italiana (Italian Cooperation) through AICS-Agenzia
Italiana per la Cooperazione allo Sviluppo (Italian Agency for
Development Cooperation) under the 2023 Call for Proposals for
initiatives promoted by local authorities and Civil Society
Organizations (CSOs), is implemented by VIDES ODV – Volontariato
Internazionale Donna Educazione Sviluppo ODV in collaboration with
Salesian Sisters AES (local partner); CoPE, SIMURG, ISF MI.
The project is currently seeking a qualified and motivated Fashion
Design Trainer to support the implementation of the Garment Short
Courses at Mary Help College Adwa. The trainer will provide
theoretical and practical instruction, assess students’ progress,
and contribute to the development of creativity, technical
competence and professional skills among the trainees.
3. Main Responsibilities
- Deliver theoretical and practical in fashion design witting the framework of the Dress Making implemented at Mary Help College Adwa.
- Prepare Session Plan, training materials, and practical exercise in accordance with the approved curriculum and project objectives.
- Provide training on fashion illustration, pattern making, sewing techniques, textiles, and garment production processes.
- Demonstrate the safe and effective use of sewing machines, equipment, and tools ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
- Assess students through assignments, practical projects, examinations, and continuous assessment.
- Provide mentoring, guidance and constructive feedback to support trainees’ technical improvement and professional development.
- Ensure the proper management, maintenance and responsible use of training equipment, workshops and learning materials.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, trainees’ progress, and other required training documentation for project monitoring and reporting purposes.
- Contribute to curriculum improvement and participate in coordination meetings related to the implementation of the training activities.
- Support trainees in developing professional portfolios and preparing for internships, employment opportunities, or self-employment pathways.
- Promote entrepreneurship skills and support graduates in exploring income-generating opportunities within the garment and fashion sector.
4. Requirements
- Diploma or equivalent qualification in Fashion Design, Garment Production, or a related field.
- Holistic COC Certificate is mandatory.
- TVET Training Methodology or pedagogy certification is an added advantage.
- At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in fashion design, garment production, or related areas.
- Demonstrated knowledge of fashion design principles, garment construction, pattern drafting, draping, sewing, and textile selection.
- Proficiency in fashion design software such as: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, CorelDRAW and CLO 3D (preferred).
- Good classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational, mentoring, and assessment skills.
