Sr. Elizabeth wrote… “We had the theme “LIKE LAURA, I DREAM…”Around 9.00 and 10.00 a.m. girls were arriving. At 9.30 a.m. Sr. Mai Van together with girls who are coming for English Class daily welcomed the girls with action songs etc. Then followed songs and games introducing themselves etc. At 10.00 Sr. Elizabeth presented the life of Bl. Laura Vicuna with the help of a girls who translated it in Dinka. At 10.15 a.m. we showed the film on Bl. Laura in one of the KG classrooms. At 11.30 a.m. We had the short break with a packet of Biscuits each. There were youngsters from DB Radio, Tonj and they interviewed Sr. Elizabeth, some of the girls etc. Then we led them to the open shed where we prepared the place for the rest of the program. At 12.00 noon one of the parents of school pupil. Mrs. Helena. spoke to the girls on what was her dream for life and how she is realizing it. Then Sr. Mai Van spoke about her dream for life. At 12.45 noon girls were divided into 11 groups and they were asked to express in their group what is their dream for life? At 1.45 p.m. they had the meal (Special rice packets with vegetable etc which Sr. Miriam received from SDB, Wau) and they had short recreation too. All of them were very happy. At 2.45 p.m. we led them for the preparation for Holy Mass. At 3.15 p.m. Fr. Shyjan SDB and 2 congregation sisters with boarding girls came together with Slovakian Volunteer Renata who played the Guitar. At 3.30 p.m. 13 girls representing Bl. Laura’s age, dressed in white with blue ribbon with Our Lady’s medal around their neck had the entrance procession with Fr. Shyjan. Fr. Shyjan too spoke about the life of Laura and how she realized her dream of bringing back her mother to God at the cost of offering her life The group leaders took the dreams of the girls written in a paper and offered it during the offertory. After communion, one of the girls prayed to Jesus through the intercession of Blessed Laura Vicuna. Before the conclusion of the Mass Sr. Miriam and a girl expressed their thanks to God and to Fr. Shyjan, Sisters, girls and all those who were present there to make this feast a memorable one. After Holy Mass they were given a sweet and the picture of Bl. Laura, Vocation leaflets, the booklet on Bl. Laura for all those who know how to read. Exactly 100 girls participated in the full day celebration and other 20 members including sisters, boardes and 2 cooks. We promised the girls to have the follow up programme after every 3 months through films like St. Maria Goretti and another time St. Josephine Bakhita etc. They were happy about it. All of us were very happy.
The Dreams of the girls are: Teacher – 13, Sister – 26, Doctor – 14, Good mother -3, Farmer – 6, Like Laura be a saint – 8, Lawyer – 1, Professor -1, Driver – 1, Builder – 1, Nurse – 1, Messanger – 1,
good girl – 1, Piolot – 1 and Financial officer – 1.
