Provincial Chapter

The Mary Help of Christians Pre-Province- AES provincial Chapter meeting was held at Adwa- Salesian Sisters from 23 to 29 October 2019. All participants gathered from Ethiopia, Sudan, and South Sudan.

The meeting was structured around three sessions: the first session provided Opening prayer, working document distribution and explanation about the program procedure. The second session featured an individual bible reading specifically “Do whatever He tells you” (Jn 2:1-12) and then discussion among the group which provided the opportunity to bring additional perspectives from group members.  The third session was dedicated to a discussion on the working document.

Educators and Sisters held a discussion as a group and as a whole on Agenda, they had read from the working document. The document was a good platform in order to facilitate the discussion to share the professional knowledge and practical experience of team members.

In the meeting Educators and sisters were working collaboratively and affirm, challenge, support and learn from each other to further develop their skills to improve practice and relationships. The meeting helped me a lot to understand the current situation of the young people in terms of Economic, Religious, political and educational challenges. It was valuable for educators to reflect on their experiences in order to focus their thinking on what the young people may need most and what the young people encountered as a challenge in their day to day activities. And during the informal discussion (tea-break) I got opportunities to reflect on my own strengths and skills, as well as opportunities to know the strengths and skills of my colleagues.
